Bangladesh Police Charged reporting iNewsTodayAdvocate Hossain Ali Khan Hassan filed the case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka in the morning on charge of making an attempt to kill him on the court premises on May 16. In the case, he mentioned the names of former Lalbagh division DC Khurshid Hossain and five other police officials as accused.

A pro-BNP lawyer filed an attempted murder case against 41 policemen including former deputy commissioner (Lalbagh Division) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Khurshid Hossain on Monday.

The five police officers are Additional Deputy Commissioner (Lalbagh Division) Maruf Hossain, former assistant commissioner Rajib-al-Masud, former officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Salaudin Khan, OC (investigation) of the police station Mahabubul Alam and Sub-inspector Md Azad. Among them, the government has given Khurshid Hossain a new posting after May 16 while AC Rajib and OC Salaudin were withdrawn and attached to Razarbagh police lines on June 2 in connection with the abuse of a girl in front of Dhaka magistrate’s court last week.

After the hearing, Metropolitan Magistrate Joynab Begum recorded the statement of the complainant and decided to pass an order on the issue later in the day.

In his complaint, Hassan told the court that he was one of the counsels for the 33 BNP leaders and activists, who are facing charges of arson for torching a vehicle near the Prime Minister’s Office during hartal hours on April 29.

After the hearing on their bail petitions, Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Erfanullah ordered to send the BNP leaders and activists to jail, the complainant said.

Later, Hassan went out of the courtroom and was standing on the court premises but SI Azad, as per the direction from the DC, the ADC, the AC and two others, hit him with a stick with an intention to kill him, the advocate claimed.
