Eid Jamaats 2010 in Dhaka city
Holy Eid-ul-Azha, the second biggest religious festival of the Muslims, is being celebrated across the country with due solemnity and amid holding of thousands of Eid jamaat (congregations) at eidgahs, mosques and open spaces since 7:00 in the morning.
Several hundred Eid jamaats, including 360 under the arrangements of Dhaka City Corporation, were held in the capital Dhaka. The main Eid jamaat in the city was held at the Jatiya Eidgah Maidan at 8:00am and President Zillur Rahman offered his Eid prayers there.
Chief Justice ABM Khairul Haque, members of the cabinet, advisers to prime minister including HT Imam, Dhaka City Corporation mayor, members of the parliament, judges of the Supreme Court, election commissioners, attorney general, senior political leaders and diplomats of different Muslim countries also offered the prayers at the main jamaat.
Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Prof Moulana Muhammad Salahuddin conducted the Eid prayers attended by hundreds of people from all walks of life in a festive mood.
A special munajat seeking divine blessings for peace, development and welfare of the country and people and greater unity of the Muslim Ummah was also held. Special arrangements were made for women to offer the prayers on the side of Jatiya Eidgah Maidan.
Besides, five Eid congregations were held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque. The first jamaat was held at 7:00am, second at 8:00am, third at 9:00am, fourth at 10:00am and fifth at 10:45am.
Parliament Secretariat arranged an Eid congregation at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at 8:30am. Two Eid jamaats were held at Dhaka University Central Mosque with first one at 8:00am and second at 9:00am. Two Eid congregations were held at the central mosque of Bangladesh Mosque Mission at Kataban.
