Father and son caught with illegal logs
TACLOBAN CITY, PHILIPPINES – A father and a son were apprehended by the operatives of Bantay Dagat Tacloban when the two were caught transporting 46 round timbers along Cancabato Bay, this Monday morning.
Teodoro Navidad, together with his 16-year-old son was caught by
Noel Ligtas, who heads the task force, having Tikoko timbers in their motorboat.
A native of barangay Legaspi, Marabut, Samar, Navidad confirmed the allegations but said he didn’t know that it was prohibited.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will be responsible for the confiscated timber as Navidad faces corresponding penalties for illegal transportation of the said timber.
